Alameda Flea Market

This flea market is probably my favorite of all time. There is always tons to see and it's so close to home.

It happens once a month and people come from all over, even out of state to check out what's for sale.

This sunday we went and there were some finds to be had. I'm going to tell you about what I didn't get first.

A gentleman was selling a Herman Miller/ Eames Executive chair in a gorgeous peacock blue, it was in pristine condition and he was selling it for a friend because he has it's pedigree written down and he had to look at the paper to reference who made it.

It was similar to this one, only the color was different. The ones in current production retail for around $3,000, he was asking $800 which, to me was a deal.

*sigh*

If only I had $800 to spare.

There was also a George Nelson Bubble lamp that was showing it's age, it was discolored and had holes in it and the guy wanted $50, that's a lot for a damaged one.

I love the flea market but I miss the old days when people didn't know what they had!
The Alameda Flea Market is a great resource for Mid-Century pieces, they're almost always priced fairly, perhaps when the trend dies down they'll be affordable to the likes of me.

So, on to what I did get...

At one of the very last rows when we were ready to head home and grab some kettle corn (do not miss this if you go there). I spotted an Eames Lounger knock-off with and ottoman.

Since I acquired my free one I've been scouring ebay and craigslist looking for a ottoman for it so I asked the guy if he'd split his up and the answer was yes and he only wanted $10! I'm wondering now if I should've take both (he was asking $30) but I have no room, was in a small car and lord knows where I would of put the chair.

As it is now it's taking up a lot of real estate in our tiny living room, but it makes the sitting experience so much better!

The bases don't match and the vinyl is lighter than the chair but that's an easy fix. Hopefully we'll find a bigger place soon, so one can really stretch out in it.

My other score was this beautiful silver ring:

It's got no identity other than a little bumble bee, which I googled and nothing came up. It too was $10. I love it!

So the rest of Sunday afternoon I sat in my chair, put my feet up and ate my kettle corn!
