What's your favorite free/found item?
We found our two cream leather chairs on Craigslist for dirt cheap! We found out that Overstock also carry them for double the price! They are brand new and extremely comfy.
What's your favorite purchased item?
I purchased 2 wall decals for our living room and I absolutely LOVE them! The chocolate brown wall was so blah and boring without the decals. We get so many compliments on them too!
What has been your biggest obstacle in decorating/design?
Getting the husband to help but when he does help, he’s amazing. As a graphic designer, I have so many crazy ideas in my head. I just want to do everything at once which probably drives him a bit crazy.
Is your design style organic or planned?
A little bit of both, sometime things aren’t planned are always the best!
What is your favorite spot in the house?
Our bedroom because I love sleeping.
How has your style changed in the past 5 years?
My style changed from very traditional to modern and contemporary. 5 years ago I was living in South Dakota under my parent’s roof; therefore I couldn’t really experiment with decorations/design. I was limited to design stores too. But now having our own place gives us the freedom to express ourselves through art and decorations with no boundaries.
What is your favorite resource or store?
Favorite Store: Definitely West Elm, Ikea, Target, CB2, Overstock, HomeGoods. Anywhere that is affordable with awesomeness appeal! I love browsing through blogs or Flickr to get inspirations.
What is your biggest decorating/design pet peeve?
Not finishing up...example: our office. I hope it will be done soon.
What has been your favorite design trend?
White furniture! Classic and clean looking.
What is the biggest influence on your design/decorating style?
Simplicity. I don’t like clutter. Something about simple look is very intriguing.
What in your home dictates how you design/decorate?
Wall color. Before decorating a room, I like to pick out a nice neutral color for the wall before putting in decorations and furniture.
What is the simplest thing you have done that has made the biggest impact?
We love our decal chandeliers in the back wall. The room seems very inviting and warm. It was the easiest and simplest thing we did but it made a huge difference in our home design.
