The place is almost done. There's just some stuff I have to find a home for and some tweaks here and there but I think I am ready to start sharing pictures with you guys.
The living room is one massive space. I decided to split in into half TV watchin' and half computerin'. I'm only ready to show you the TV side.
What I really, most wanted to do in the whole world was yank out that heater (it's LA who needs heat?) and pop the disco ball in the fireplace but sadly the unit is gas and mounted and blah blah blah.
I put together and hung the Fleur light. The instructions to it were pretty intense. They used words like assemblage and whereupon, a far cry from the Ikea pictures I'm used to.
I'm undecided on the art above the fireplace, I can't decided if it's too big or not. Truthfully I have nothing else that really fits up there.
The walls are plaster (ugh) so hanging anything is a difficult, crumbly mess. So when I hung the gallery I used 3M hooks. So far, so good. Makes for easy clean up when we move as well. The last few days in Seattle were spent spackling, sanding and painting. Not the best way to spend New Year's let me tell you.
Check out the chair Bruce has his fat ass plopped on. That was my last find in Seattle. It's a awesome textured mustard color and it's really comfortable.
Here's my usual view, that light is pretty killer huh? I had a big keep/sell debate. I still have the original box so if I ever change my mind I can always sell it.
hey
ReplyDeletesuper Ana...settling in and making the new place your own is a get way to start the new year :)...looking forward to more pics of the space.
It looks good. Did you remember to use that putty stuff to earthquake "proof" your ceramic figures on the mantel? How about the big art? Might I suggest putting that big art slightly off center to give the ceramic figures a bit more space?
ReplyDeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteThis looks AWESOME! Congratulations on a project REALLY well done. I wonder what one or two larger hanging pieces in with (or replacing some of) the art on the wall would look like. Maybe removing a few smaller scale items from the wall would make the wall jive more with the feel of the room? What do you think?
ReplyDeleteanotheryarn- I've got putty on anything that can jiggle!
ReplyDeleteThe ceramics on the fireplace are two too many of what really lives there. I should've cleaned up for the picture better. What's REALLY on the mantel is the big art, the orange owl and the small black and white ceramic. The aqua vase on the far right and the candle on the far left aren't really supposed to be there.
Thanks everyone!
The fleur light is absolutely stunning! Loving the blue/mustard color combo too!
ReplyDeletedon't sell it, don't sell it! the light is awesome!
ReplyDeletei'm loving your cozy living room - the gallery wall is perfect. i also love the large art piece above the fireplace! i think that i would pair it with a trio of large vases or decorative ceramic items that are more within the scale of the art... that's just me, though.
terrific job!
bruce looks quite comfortable and content with his new perch! great chair!
ReplyDeleteHi! I have just happened upon you blog!
ReplyDeleteIf it helps at all, I think that above the mantelpiece art is a)brilliant and b)the perfect size. I didn't notice the gas heater 'til you mentioned it.
I love the mixture of colours you have too, against the white. it is fresh and inviting at the same time (fresh is all well and good, but you need some cosy I reckon, and you have lots of it)
BEAUTIFUL! Amazing work. I especially appreciate the tidy assortment of photos with matching frames on the wall...and the kitty. I have bad kitty envy :) I miss having a fury beast.
